EACA Codes of Ethics
The professional and scholarly standards that bind every EACA member.
By accepting EACA membership, scholars and practitioners agree to uphold the following codes in their research, teaching, publication, and professional conduct.
Integrity in Research
Members commit to honest design, conduct, and reporting of research. Fabrication, falsification, and plagiarism are unacceptable.
Respect for Participants
Research with human participants must be conducted with informed consent, confidentiality, and respect for the communities studied.
Transparent Authorship
Authorship reflects substantive contribution. All contributors are appropriately acknowledged; ghost and gift authorship are prohibited.
Independence
Members declare conflicts of interest and protect the independence of their research from undue influence by funders or partners.
Responsible Communication
Findings are reported accurately, with appropriate context and limitations, to academic, policy, and public audiences.
Collegiality
Members treat one another, students, reviewers, and editors with respect, fairness and professional courtesy.
Engagement with Media Practice
Members support free, independent and responsible journalism, and engage constructively with media institutions in the region.
